We are excited to be leading the way in carbon capture, setting the stage for changing and improving the way the world manages carbon. Rainbow Energy Center is committed to be a world leader in responsible electricity generation and carbon management.
What is carbon capture?
Reducing our footprint
Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) is the process of capturing CO2 from a large stationary source, compressing the CO2, and injecting the gas deep underground for permanent geologic storage or recovery of other minerals.
It allows us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint, a key priority for environmental stewardship.
The EERC is an essential partner in this project. They have spent decades researching and understanding the geology of North Dakota and how that relates to the proper storage of CO2 emissions.
Other valued partners involved in the project continue to help identify and work through challenges as we work toward developing the largest post-combustion CCUS project in the world.
Our carbon capture project intends to set the standard for what every consumer needs — affordable, reliable power that is produced responsibly.
